The Turkish House in New York held a panel Wednesday titled "Combatting Islamophobia in the Modern World.”

The panel was jointly organized by the Consulates General of Türkiye, Indonesia and Pakistan.

Turkish Consul General Reyhan Ozgur said that Islamophobia undermines the principles of diversity, unity and mutual respect in society, similar to any form of hatred.

Ozgur emphasized that Islamophobia not only targets Muslims but also fuels division and intolerance globally. He stressed that combatting Islamophobia is not the responsibility of any nation or group alone but requires a collective effort and collaboration.

Prof. Enes Bayrakli from the Turkish-German University cited Israel’s ongoing attacks in Gaza as an example of Islamophobia, saying that the genocide in Gaza, alongside many other revelations, exposed the global apartheid system.

Raza Ahmad Rumi, a Pakistani writer, reminded the audience of Islam's rich cultural and tolerant history.

He suggested that Muslims can find inspiration in history and adapt to modern times, setting a positive example in Western societies.

The early Arabs out of Arabia learned from the people they liberated. The Greek, Romans, Persians, Egyptians....
Arab sailors brought back Indian and Chinese mathematical and scientific know how. And just assembled everything together.
They did not identify themselves as "Muslims. Their main belief is that of One God.
Very simple. No Rituals either as nobody in Spain mentioned about Arabs praying 5 times a day. Nor those in the Levant nor the Caucasians.

Islam is represented by Arabs in the West.

Believe me, when you see the way Arabs preach and act out their religious beliefs in the West with their behaviour and social values, you will also be Islamophobic.
