EDUCATION Minister Ng Eng Hen has challenged the opposition to be 'bold' enough to say they want to form a government and give voters a real choice at the coming polls.
Dr Ng, who is also the People's Action Party's organising secretary (special duties) told reporters during a market visit to Toa Payoh on Friday: 'I think the opposition should be bold enough and say, we want to come together and form the next government. Then, the voters will have a real choice.'
Responding to Dr Ng's challenge, secretary-general of the Singapore Democratic Alliance Desmond Lim said on Friday: 'As a political party and as a serious politician, our long-term aim is to form a government, be it on our own, or coalition with any other political party.'
But this has to be done step by step, starting with winning a few seats in Parliament, he told reporters outside the Elections Department.
