SINGAPORE: The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has arrested five people and seized 1.26 kilogrammes of heroin and other drugs in two simultaneous operations carried out on Tuesday.

The drugs were worth nearly S$200,000.

In the first operation on Tuesday morning, a 58-year-old suspected drug trafficker was arrested in Tanjong Katong.

CNB officers found 475 grammes of heroin and drug paraphernalia in his van.

When the officers searched his home, nine Erimin-5 tablets and more drug paraphernalia were recovered.

Another suspected drug trafficker, a 54-year-old man, was also arrested around the same time nearby.

He had been earlier spotted meeting the first suspected drug trafficker in the van.

He had about S$6,000 in a plastic bag.

In the second operation at noon, a 52-year-old suspected drug trafficker was arrested in Queenstown.

Close to 800 grammes of heroin and 17 grammes of Ice were found in his flat in the area.

His suspected drug accomplice, a 50-year-old man, and another drug offender were also arrested at the same block.

All five held by the CNB would be further investigated.

If convicted, the three suspected drug traffickers may face the death penalty.
