SINGAPORE: The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has arrested three men and a woman, and seized drugs worth more than S$59,000 in the latest strike against drug syndicated activities in Singapore.

CNB officers seized about 545 grammes of heroin, 14 grammes of 'Ice' and some 'Ecstasy' tablets in an operation on Monday.

CNB said the seized drugs are enough to sustain 260 abusers for one week.

At about 6pm on Monday, CNB officers deployed in the vicinity of Sims Drive spotted the first suspect, a 36-year-old male Malaysian, arriving on his motorcycle at a carpark.

The man placed a plastic bag on the handle bars of the motorcycle.

At about 7.15pm, officers spotted a panel van driving into the same carpark.

The Malaysian man approached the van and took an envelope from a person who was at the back of the van. He then returned to his motorcycle with the envelope and took the plastic bag from his motorcycle.

He went back to the van and handed over the plastic bag to another suspect in the van.

Both groups parted ways shortly after.

Officers moved in to arrest the Malaysian man just as he was preparing to mount his motorcycle.

Another group of officers intercepted the van as it exited the carpark and arrested three suspects from the van.

Besides the drugs, drug-smoking apparatus was also recovered from the van.

The three suspects are a 41-year-old male, a 36-year-old male and a 32-year-old female, all Singaporeans.

Cash amounting to S$4,400 was recovered from the Malaysian man.

Police are investigating the drug trafficking activities of all the suspects. - CNA/ms
