SINGAPORE: The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested 85 suspected drug abusers and 10 suspected drug traffickers in island-wide operations over four days.
Drugs with a street value of approximately S$204,000 were also seized.
CNB said the operation, which began on 12 December and ended on Thursday, targetted street-level demand and syndicated supply of drugs.
Officers conducted the checks at various locations including Bukit Purmei, Bedok, Hougang, Woodlands, Pasir Ris, Punggol and Jurong.
The drugs seized included approximately 1.3kg of heroin, nine grammes of 'Ice' and 14 Erimin-5 tablets.
Details were also released on two of the raids at Bukit Purmei and Jurong.
In the Bukit Purmei operation, which took place on Wednesday, CNB said two Singaporean men, aged 46 and 50, were arrested.
They were spotted loitering in a run-down one-storey building.
When a search was conducted there, officers found eight packets and two straws of heroin weighing about 60 grammes and worth almost S$10,000, as well as several empty straws, believed to be for packing drugs.
They set up an ambush for the possibility of other drug offenders meeting there.
CNB said after several hours, three other Singaporean men were arrested.
Two of them, aged 30 and 44, are believed to be drug abusers while another 50-year-old odd-job labourer is believed to be a drug pusher.
In another operation in Jurong on Thursday morning, two male Singaporeans were arrested at the ground floor lift landing of a housing block in Jurong West.
They were believed to have just received an overseas consignment of heroin.
About 0.9kg of heroin worth S$135,000 were recovered from that suspected drug trafficker, aged 28.
CNB said the suspected drug trafficker and his associate were brought to their hideout in the same block where another 0.2kg of heroin was found in a metal container under the bed frame in the room of the hideout.
Investigations are going on.
The duo may face the death penalty if convicted of the charge of drug trafficking.
