Why is there only Reform Party, Kenneth Jeyaretnam, one of the guest on the show, what about other parties? Not Invited?

How to talk about Opposition strategy when there is only one party there.

Kenneth J. dominated the discussion. When asked about quality of candidates, he replied confidently, one of his candidates has the same degree as the Prime Minister. When asked about where he's fielding his candidates, he nonchalantly replied, the government should release the electoral boundaries first, otherwise how could he commit any answer? He also alluded to the influence of the reputation and sentimental support his father still have in certain areas, without mentioning Anson or Tanjong Pagar, sidetracking to West Coast. Classic parry with a warning of return strike.Debra Soon was reduced to more like usher instead of host, P.N. Balji and Eugene Tan were reduced to more like common audience Q & A.

I find both Kenneth and Dr Chee quite vocal when confronted with questions on TV or in court respectively. Unfortunately Dr Chee has became nemesis of LEEgime and almost squeezed out of air by PAP. Kenneth is cautious with his strategy and firm in his thought. He tapped his presence in talking point quite well and I see a PM stature in him. I like the way he stated clearly and confidently that his aim is not just to win but to form a government. Very confident party and I like it. I will vote for him without question.

Quite clearly KJ is a very ambitious man.

To take on PAP, he needs to form a stronger opposition party. It is pretty clear that he wants to form a Opposition United team to face PAP head to head. His first target, SDA, which I supposed is the easiest meat.

Just look at the way he bossed the old man Chiam in that merger talk. The leaked conditions outlined his intention, to be the no. 1 man in this alliance.

It's quite clear from the leaks that his so-called negotiation with SDA was actually an attempted coup. Chiam S.T. will retain his honorary position as long as he wants, but Kenneth J. would take over the leash and buggy. It's also quite clear that Chiam didn't leak it. It was someone else in SDA/SPP high up, perhaps as high as left- or right-hand to Chiam, who's position would threatened or even eliminated, who leaked it hoping to stop it.

SDA/SPP is dying under its own deadweight. RP seem to be the only way for SDA to rejuvanate and yet, we see internal party politics showing its ugly head.

KJ is smart to pull out or stop the process as he want SDA to come back to him on bended knees. It might look bad for opposition politics but for those who can see the long term advantage, KJ is the man to lead the rusty SDA to a better sunset.

Process is not important as long as two-party-systems is what Singaporeans ultimately sought. Singapore should not have too many parties all loosely scattered and killing each other. Change is possible if atlernative parties unite. Otherwise it is just an empty fantasy to combat PAP head on. So please look at the larger picture of Singapore political landscape and not individual party housekeeping.

A 3 party system may not be a bad idea as well.
The problem with just a 2 party system is that it could easily escalate into a "saliva war" where both parties just try to out talk each other and do nothing for the people. The threat of the 3rd party would keep them in check.
But at the moment, a strong opposition, multi party or otherwise, is what we should hope for and aim for.

If only KJ spoke in online forums/facebook like what he did on CNA. Unfortunately he is far out of line on the net, calling people names like gossipmongers, liars, rubbish etc. I would love to see him try that on national TV.
