In a sign that the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) is gearing up for an imminent General Election, almost 100 activists and party helpers held a closed-door meeting yesterday at Downtown East in Pasir Ris.
Those present included Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, the PAP's second assistant secretary-general; Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Lim Swee Say, who is a PAP central committee member; and some incumbent PAP Members of Parliament.
The meeting is believed to have been called to brief the helpers and activists of the various preparations for the hustings and to clear any doubts they may have of campaigning procedures.
Activists and MPs were tight-lipped as they entered the meeting room, while Mr Lim indicated that the discussion was an internal party matter. S RAMESH
