Clerk stops $20,000 'kidnap' phone scam

Her eyes darted around as she continuously fiddled with her bag.
The elderly woman, who wanted to be known only as Madam Bai, 66, refused to say why she was remitting such a large sum of money.
The remittance clerk serving her, Miss Wu Hong Rui, 47, suspected that something was wrong and quietly put the remittance on hold.
Her instincts were right.
Madam Bai was caught in a “kidnap” phone scam.
And if not for the clerk’s quick thinking, Madam Bai would have lost $20,000 of her life savings.
