A FORMER conveyancing clerk accused of 11 charges of counterfeiting certificates of stamp duty, made her second appearance in court on Friday.
Irene Koh Lay Hong, 43, was working at Sterling Law Corporation when she allegedly altered the purchase prices of 10 properties and stamp duties payable between July 5, 2007 and June 26 last year. In one case on Feb 4 last year, she is said to have also altered the description of the property as well as the owners and purchasers of a condominium. She is also accused of a similar offence when she was employed by Thomas Tham Dinagaran & Company on March 29, 2006. Her lawyer, Mr Fong Chee Yang, asked for an eight-week adjournment. He said his client was under a probe by the Commercial Affairs Department and he wanted both cases to be consolidated. A pre-trial conference has been set for Nov 5. If convicted, Koh can be fined up to $10,000 and/or jailed for up to three years on each charge.
