SINGAPORE — About 800 foreign workers were newly quarantined after the discovery of a COVID-19 case amongst them in a cleared dormitory, the Ministry of Health said on Wednesday (12 August).

The MOH did not reveal the name or location of the dormitory.

These workers are among a total of 22,800 who are still serving out their quarantine period. They will be tested when their quarantine ends, and the authorities expect the case counts to remain high in the coming days, before tapering down thereafter.

The Inter-agency Taskforce has completed the testing of all workers in the dormitories on Tuesday.

The MOH reported 42 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore as of Wednesday noon, taking the country’s total case count to 55,395.

It won't go away but it will become so mild that nobody will bother about it anymore.

It caused a spike in deaths only because 20% of the population had absolutely no immunity to this new strain of coronavirus. However as time goes by immunity spreads through the population and the number of deaths will plunge to an insignificant number that is no longer newsworthy.
