Cigarette butts ruined my laundry
Discarded butts, curry sauce among litter that falls into woman's flat
By Lim Wei Li

She often found leftover food, clumps of hair and large balls of dust on the freshly washed laundry at her mother's 10th-storey flat in Bukit Panjang.

Civil servant Jan Lim, 29, believes the culprit is one of her neighbours who lives above.

At first, Ms Lim tolerated it, dismissing it as a minor annoyance that happened from time to time.

But the last straw came when she found lit cigarette butts on her laundry twice last month.

Ms Lim claimed a cigarette butt burned a hole in her four-month-old baby's bib when she left it hanging out to dry.

She said the cigarette butt then flew into the kitchen, almost landing on her daughter, who was sitting near the window at the time.

The incident happened on June 17.
