NSP - well delivered Singapore grievances (Housing, immigrant employments) especially when he said about government issued empty cheques in previous election.

RP - speaker too slow in delivering, think too long for words to counter. His mandarin quite low standard apparently. However, his simple RP manisfesto is quite appealing to the ground sentiment and he made it clear at the end of the show.

WP - Is almost a translation from Gerald Giam English version, basically WP stands is consistent in the Chinese and English political forum

SDP - Do not know why they rejected in attending

PAP Tan - Shouting PAP slogan, nothing exciting about his speech.

PAP Lim Swee Say - as usual with analogy but his style is well perceivable. However towards the conclusion, he did admit that PAP is not perfect .

Moderator - no stress because everyone delievered on time or even have extra times left.

What dissappoint me about the chinese political forum was, the oppositions have so much time given to them (due to one party absence from the show) to attack the incumbent MP but they seemed to wait for each other to start the ball rolling. I would have them grab the opportunity and fire off their bullets immediately because their opponents aguments and calibre is quite weak. Silence seemed obvious when moderator shoot out a question for opposition to respond. The moderator has to keep looking around to see who want to speak first. Pretty shocking at certain interval like this.

You know why ? Of course it has nothing to do with the language medium. It's because SDP is absent.

remember reading an article here it's SPP who decline to attend?

Yes. it is SPP, both WP and SPP has MP representation, therefore, they are invited in both the English and Chinese sessions.

Why SPP rejected the invition? this clearly show it is sunset time for SPP.

the only people who can express themselves fluently in Mandarin are prolly just the Nantah grads who are now too old... Chen Show Mao lived in PRC for a few years, he should be quite eloquent bilingually, but sadly he's keeping a lower profile.

Minister Lim earned my respect for acknowledging tt incumbent govt is not perfect. However he also evaded a couple of issued. Overall this was more of a civil discourse tt a battle ..unfortunately

This is the tactic they use. Did they tried to prevent the issues before it happen.

Take for example, price increase has slow down, HDB CoV has go lower, but the fact is that the pricing already surge greatly and didn't come down and still going up at the slower pace now.

Is this want the people can afford? Is this want the people want?

You are too quick to respect him. Wihout opponents, he believes you are cheap. When confronted with debate like this, he needs to bend a little pretending to surrender. Such strategy is nothing new. Looking at how the situation goes from here, we obviously need a live and robust debate in parliament to counter the PAP. Otherwise Singaporeans will be short changed and always at the receiving end of stupid policies.

I thot the SPP chairman, Sin Kek Tong can speak quite good mandarin at the rallies. Wonder why they didn't field him in the debate. My guess is that there is some friction between him and CST. Like that SPP gone case liao... It is only a party made up of Mr & Mrs CST and that Alex Tan. How to win?

Then Mr Chiam should aim to win another single seat ward rather than aiming Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC
