從清末的辛亥革命、二戰後的228事件、80年代的江南案，在不同時代的政治事件裡，都可看見幫派兄弟穿梭其中的黑影。在台灣，除了竹聯幫之外，本土角頭到底與政府維持怎樣的關係？在高雄秀場名人戴崇慶身上看到了這樣的軌跡。他不僅參與1960年代的香港情報工作，也在美麗島事件打擊黨外勢力。他和江南案的陳啟禮都拒收政府的酬勞，說一切行動都是為了愛國。
2000年之後，政治版圖改變，愛國的戴崇慶試著加入民進黨。當賭博、色情都網路化，連包工程門檻也變高了，兄弟愈來愈難混。竹聯大老張安樂說，政治立場不重要，愛國也不知愛哪個國了，還是眼前有錢、有利益最重要。
78歲的戴崇慶在住家裡接受我們的採訪，這是一處位於高雄苓雅區的商辦大樓，大樓外牆剝落，室內沒有冷氣，慘白的日光燈，牆上是一副戴崇慶收藏的武士刀。

他自稱「港都聞人」，近年在媒體上的「頭銜」是白冰冰的「前男友」。時間若再往前移，可以發現戴崇慶身分「多元」，1972年他在高雄地方媒體稱他是「愛國華僑」，1984年媒體點名他可能入列一清專案的掃黑名單，1986年，他又成了增額立法委員候選人，但高票落選。
他毫不忌諱自己複雜的背景：「我17歲就帶了30個小弟，四處打架，在高雄有點名聲…。」他滑開手機，是一則娛樂新聞的剪報，內文稱高雄秀場大亨戴崇慶有情報員背景，與高層關係密切。他曾涉入美麗島事件，甚至一度被懷疑是林義雄案的嫌疑人。我們採訪了幾位高雄地方人士，每個人都對「戴董」的經歷繪聲繪影，也有人說他吹牛。不過，可以確定的是戴董是地方曾經具影響力的角頭，即便事過多年，有些高雄地方人士談起他仍有所戒心：「這種人，我不方便講啦，我們不要有牽扯不要較好。」

他先後在高雄開餐廳、經營業總會、酒店，25歲就成了夜總會的老闆：「那時候很風光，我在高雄是第一位在餐廳裡引入藝人登台，那時候陳今佩、包娜娜、姚蘇蓉都來我的餐廳登台過。」不過，戴崇慶的脾氣不好，一次賭場衝突，砍傷了高雄重要大哥張省吾，夜總會因而關門。
此外，他自稱和歌手姚蘇蓉交往，當時關係也到了盡頭：「我沒了事業，連愛情也不順，當時念頭只有想死，朋友勸我換個環境，介紹我去香港。」他從基隆上了一艘貨船，偷渡到香港，上岸後住在重慶大樓的旅社，該旅社是台灣「國防部情報局」(現今的軍事情報局)位於九龍分站的基地之一駐點。
