Ridiculous! Chinatown restaurant charges $6 for char siew no

ridiculous_chinatown_restaurant_charges_6_for_char_siew_noodles-thumbnail.jpg

A STOMPer, who recently visited 2 Chinatown Seafood Restaurant in Trengganu Street, was shocked to find that a simple bowl of char siew noodles cost him $6.

This is overpriced for something as simples as charsiew noodles, he says.

In an email, the STOMPer says:

"Daylight robbery in Chinatown.

"Can u believe that I spent $6 on a plate of char siew noodled at a noodle stall in 2 Chinatown, Trengganu street.

"It was ridiculous. "

I think I know which stall. The char Siew noodle seller will tell me the price first and if I find it expensive, I can choose not to eat. There was another stall selling similar Char Siew noodle near pagoda street, price is half the one of the earlier stall. It very much depends on street smart, people usually check price before ordering food and not eat already than complain about hefty charge. The stomper must be quite "stupid"..haha

Street smart is one thing, but being thick skin is another, not want to be seen as cheapo. No offense.

Once a while I like to go for spicy Nasi Padang. And I always order sambal sotong, sambal goreng and telok for $2.50, that was like 1.5 to 2 years ago. Now the price can be anything from $3 to $5 in and around Geylang Serai. The problem with Malay stall is they don't display their price like chinese economy rice and the best part is you can order from the same stall but each time depending on the food handler they may quote you differently. If you ask them, they will just mention they give you a slightly bigger portion.

This part I fully agree and is no longer a news. That is why I learn to ask their price before buying anything from them. If they don't tell I don't buy, as simple as that.

That is why it is more expensive. It's a hybrid of a pig and a chicken.

Why bother with China Town

After hearing of the things that goes on there I avoid such places as China Town, Newton, .....

Its time for people to start boycotting such places. If enough people did that those unscrupulous businesses will go belly up

i agree with myfoot123. People usually ask for price first. There is nothing to be embarassed about it. It's a biz transaction.
As for the malay food, that is the reason why i stop eating at muslim stores. They see u chinese, they will anyhow charge one.
