With USA and China (and soon, other countries) suspecting each other of spying with these UFOs and get too trigger happy, sooner or later a genuine extraterrestrial ship gets caught in the crossfire and it'll trigger the ET anhilation of humanity. Even then, USA and China would blame each other for it.
