Child found starving next to mother’s body
IT was a heart-wrenching scene when police found a starving child beside the decomposing body of her mother after they stormed into a house in Sibu, Sarawak, reported Harian Metro. Police rescued the four-year-old girl, who was weak and believed to have been starving for three days after her mother was killed.
Quoting deputy OCPD Supt Zamani Hamdan, the paper said police believe the 34-year-old single mother had been murdered as there were injuries on her body, which was found inside a bedroom in a terrace house in Jalan Hua Kee.
“We went to the house after the landlord, who had come to collect rent, complained of a stench. “When we entered the bedroom, we saw the girl looking extremely weak and sitting next to her mother’s body.
“Based on the condition of the woman’s body, we believe she had been murdered three days ago. “That means the child has been without food or water since then,” he said.
