Chen spoke well at his debut speech at Hougang.
However, at Serangoon Stadium for the Aljunied GRC rally, he spoke only English and it was a short one with 3 questions with long pauses in between (not as smooth as it can be). Many people went there (some from far away places), with high expectations of the speech of WP's "star catch" but was somewhat disappointed. Why did they not give CSM more time and exposure and why did he not speak in Mandarin when he is the candidate there? Was he sick that day? Anyone knows? A few of my friends who went there to hear him speak for the first time went home with the impression that he could not speak well publicly and is not eloquent.
Today at Kallang, he was back to his eloquent self.
I think WP need to hold another rally in Aljunied and let CSM give a good speech to "redeem" himself from the performance the other day and let Aljunied residents have a chance to witness his eloquence. A good time will be the last day of the campaign. An Aljunied rally on the night before cooling-day would likely attract the largest crowd of the whole campaign from all over Singapore.
