JOHOR BARU - Many Singaporeans are crossing the border just to get their cars washed because it is cheaper. Singaporean Mohamad Iqbal, 25, said he comes here every weekend just to wash his car and buy petrol. "The cost here is much cheaper than what we usually pay in Singapore. "Car washers here also clean and vacuum the interior of my car without extra charge," he said. He said he would go online to check on the traffic at the causeway and plan his trip to avoid being stuck in the weekend jams. "I think it is really worth it as the service here is good and fast," he said.

Another car wash patron, Andrew Goh, 33, said every time he travelled here he would take the opportunity to wash his car as the cost is between 30% and 40% cheaper than in Singapore. "I have two cars and I save approximately S$40 (RM96) on car wash charges every month," he said. The average car wash charge in Singapore is about S$10 (RM24) per car while in Johor, it is only RM8. A car wash owner who operates near the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex, said 90% of his customers were Singaporeans.

yes, well done.. PLs go to JB more to get your money worth.

For those who are more adventurous, you can go all the way to bangkok and get all your contact lenses, dentist service.. etc that is 50% cheaper than your forsaken sinkieland.

We cheapo lah, lol, dun really understand why people do that, waste of time LOL :D:D

I don't know how many times I have said this to myself. Why do SGreans go to such great lengths to save on such money but are silent when our SWFs lost billions of dollars in overseas investments?

Perhaps this is why I never felt I belong in the country.

This Andrew Goh must be numbskull. Where did he wash his car in Singapore for $10. That goes for Mohamad Iqbal. Though I agreed there are food and grocery are cheap. But is not worth the risk to go over there anymore. How much can you save from petrol. Think of the time and traffic jam. Not unless you are going there for business or golfing.
Andrew Goh and Mohamad, please take note. Washing of car cost S$4.00 and $5.00 for bigger car like Merc, BMW and SUV. There are quite a few along Thomson Road. I personally go to the one at Sin Ming Rd next to NEA building.
