Here's an idea from NY cabs: GPS map so that you won't be ripped off
The chances of being given the roundabout, "scenic" route by unscrupulous taxi-drivers in New York City are slim -- thanks to the real-time GPS map in the passenger section.
STOMPer Brad Tan, who was in NYC recently, found this in all cabs he took there.
He knew exactly what route the taxi driver was taking, where he was and where his destination location is.
"This prevents taxi-drivers from taking you round and round to chalk up the meter," said Brad.
The GPS map was on the left screen, with the bigger right screen showing the news "live", unlike the blatant screening of advertisements in some Singapore taxis.
Taxi operators in Singapore ought to take a leaf from their NYC counterparts and install the GPS screens, urges Brad.
