Chan Chun Sing has the linguistic capacity range to speak whatever variant of English he chooses. Singaporeans are instinctively adept at code-switching. Deep-wired.

-Proper English in the conference room.
-Colloquial chill English at Harry’s Bar after office with coworkers.
-Freewheeling let-it-rip Singlish patois at the hawker center.

Chan Chun Sing is no different. He is a woodchuck generation cohort politician, cutting his teeth in the craft. He needs to connect with the hoi polloi, ranging down to the lowest common denominator of electoral calculus. That he was parachuted into political prominence quicktime piles the pressure on him.
