　　环境及水源部长雅国博士昨晚出席可持续发展跨部门委员会第一场公众对话会后接受媒体访问时说，一些国家也在探讨通过耗电税或碳税来加强人民对节省资源的重视，但由于任何税务制度都可能影响市场运作，因此政府在实行这项计划前须慎重考虑其可行性。
　　他说：“不过，如果我们觉得能源和水一样是重要资源，那我们也应该探讨如何奖励节约用电的公众。”
　　一名与会公众建议向无故浪费电力的用户征收罚款时，雅国在回应时指出推出这项税务的可能性。
　　不过，雅国强调，立法未必是鼓励人们节省能源的最佳方法，他希望政府通过与非政府组织和各单位的合作，说服更多人自动自发地将环保、节约能源等良好习惯融入生活中。
　　这名公众以一些购物商场的商店开着大门、但仍坚持使用冷气的现实情况，描述国人挥霍能源的不负责任行为，他希望政府能立法管制，并惩罚浪费用电的公众。

I am using candles to light the rooms ( how romantic!), restrict use to the televsion ( still have to pay TV Licence), try to surf the net, for few hours a day, do my 'business' in the shopping centre toliets, & discharge all my water waste outside the house:biggrin:, in this way, I uses less water to flush, incur less water borne fees, & help save the environment...

but then, my poor government will have less revenues in Indirect taxes like waterborne fees etc... and GST & revenues...

how?...I am Singapore..Singaporean!:rolleyes:
