【on.cc東網專訊】因管理不善而從全球最佳航空公司排名榜排名節節下跌的國泰航空，早前一班客機起飛後折返的事故疑與機轆起落架艙門蓋飛脫有關。有聲稱是涉事航空的乘客在網上討論區圖文並茂講述事件，指容許物品從高處墮下屬刑事罪行，甚至危害公眾安全，質疑民航處未有公布交代事件。
涉事航班編號是CX504，上月17日由香港出發前往日本東京成田機場。在當日早上9時05分起飛後，突然通知機場管理局航班需要折返及戒備，其後在當日早上10時54分降落機場。有聲稱是涉事航班的乘客在網上討論區「flyertalk」貼文及拍下照片，指機轆起落架艙門蓋原有兩塊，惟其中一塊離奇消失，又聲稱在飛行期間，曾透過機上娛樂系統收看實時畫面，看見客機收回起落架時，有物件從機頭附近飛脫，惟由於航班運作正常，故不以為意。
國泰客機過去曾發生飛機零件在高空脫落的事件，2004年12月，國泰一架波音777客機，在泰國曼谷機場起飛後，其中一個引擎金屬導管飛脫，擊中地面一輛私家車。
國泰發言人當日回覆指，懷疑涉事航班出現技術故障才需要折返，惟東網今日再向該公司查詢故障原因，國泰僅回覆指，當日已回覆，並沒有作進一步解釋。民航處則指，已知悉有關航班因機件問題需折返本港，國泰亦已就事件提交報告，該處會繼續跟進事件。

【星島日報報道】國泰航空懷疑有客機因起落架蓋飛脫，飛東京航班要中途折返。
上月17日國泰航空一班CX504客機，原定由香港出發前東京成田機場。當日早上9時05分起飛後，突然通知機管局客機需要折返及戒備，其後客機降落機場。有聲稱在故障客機上的乘客，在網上討論區「flyertalk.com」披露，航機起飛後如常收起機上的起落架，不過前起落架的蓋突然在空中飛脫，導致客機需要折返。網民又稱，起落架門蓋原有兩塊，惟其中一塊消失。
網民指，事發時正透過機上娛樂系統收看實時畫面，見到客機收回起落架時，有物件似乎飛脫，但最初客機繼續飛行所以無為意，但隨後機長便發出廣播，指起落架艙門蓋未能關閉，需要折返。
民航處指，知悉涉事航班因機件問題需折返香港。航空公司已就事件向民航處提交報告，處方會繼續跟進事件。
