They should start thinking of ways to bring more benefits to Singaporean workers instead of making videos.

Jokers, loudly proclaiming the miserly pay rise that they have fought for, something like $50 for people earning $1000. When the truth is that Singaporeans are overworked, with no work life balance, yet have to deal with rising costs of living and pitiful wages. It's no wonder no one wants to have kids these days.

yes i agree this is how sectorial minimum wage is set in most first world countries.....but what collective agreements or bargainings do we have???what unions do we have????all we have is NTUC and a wage councils that are nothing more than wayang sikit and pretends they are fighting on our behalf...want to know why it takes so long to negotiate anything???because NTUC and NWC dont give a damn about no minimum wage or workers needs,they are too busy sucking the businessmen's balls for fuck sake.

Recently I notice plenty of "educational" videos put out by the PAP about things like pay & CPF.

In the past the PAP has fed Sporeans with a constant flow of propaganda. Creating gullible innocents.

We are now facing hard reality. Many are losing their jobs to foreigners in Spore, denied their CPF, having to put up with the behaviour of these foreigns in Spore,.... Sporeans are growing up fast
Ironically all these are going to make it difficult for the PAP to hold on to power. The PAP could have held on to power for decades except that LHL & Ho Ching got too greedy.

This is USA , number 1 country in the world. Does the US employers pay a decent living wage??
Not all of them. They have min wage, so if it is not a solution there, why is it a solution in singapore?

All of you arguing minimum wage is either good or bad for singapore are too short sighted. With a respectable amount of protectionism against foreign competition, it can be fair to workers and businesses.

Do not be taken in by naive statements like "minimum wage is bad, therefore we should let businesses do as they please and displace low wage workers with foreign labourers".
