TUMPAT, Malaysia - A 2-year-old boy, playing in his grandparents' home, died after he was hit by a car which crashed into the house at Kampung Dalam Rhu here on Tuesday.
Adam Firdaus Mohd Shukri was in the living room when the car, a Mercedes Benz, crashed through the wall of the house and knocked him down at 5.30pm.
The youngest of three siblings suffered head injuries and was taken to the district hospital, where he died.
District police chief Superintendent Khalid Munap said investigations showed that the driver, in his 60s, lost control of his vehicle, which then swerved into the house which was located along the side of the road.
He said the driver, who escaped unscathed, was travelling from Tumpat to Kampung Geting, when the incident occurred.
The victim's grandmother, Aisyah Seberang, said she was performing the Asar prayers in her room when she heard a loud sound.
"I stopped praying and went to check the situation. I was shocked when I saw my grandson lying with his face down near the car which had stopped short from crashing against another wall (of the house)."
Aisyah, 55, said she screamed for help and her relatives arrived immediately to render assistance.
"The incident came as a quite a shock to us but we have to accept it as fated."
