KOTA KINABALU - Thieves broke into the home of a senator here and stole RM32,000 (S$12,800) worth of valuables and 82 rounds of live bullets.
The .38 pistol bullets and the other items, which included a TV set, laptop and cash, were carted away from Datuk Maijol Mahap's house at Taman Fulliwas on Tuesday night.
The senator, who left Upko to join Pakatan Rakyat on July 29, told police that he discovered the burglary when his family returned home at about 11pm after an outing.
City police chief Assist Comm Jauteh Dikun said initial investigations showed the intruders had prised open the backdoor grille to enter the kitchen and ransack the house.
