DURING a week normally filled with joy and revelry, Madam Yenni Young found herself having to make the most heartrending decision of her life.

The 31-year-old told doctors last Wednesday to take her husband of one month, Mr Tong Kok Wai, off life support in hospital.

Mr Tong, 30, a Malaysian and permanent resident here, had suffered severe brain damage after being knocked down in a double hit-and-run accident in Bukit Panjang on Dec 15.

He had been unconscious all the while in an intensive care unit at the National University Hospital, feared brain-dead by doctors, and was taken off life support machines at 2pm on Christmas Day.

Madam Young, a Chinese Indonesian, said doctors had given them 48 hours last Wednesday to decide.

'We couldn't bear to at first,' said the hotel assistant manager. 'But it's for the best.'

it affect the family and the country as a whole.

but i have to add that, where do transplant organ come from???

those who have organ failure, who need life saving transplant?
everyday they hope, there is road accident or hit and run to save them.
they and their family will benefit the country as a whole too.

so to improve road safety is to reduce the number of people saved by organ transplant.

What I find most absurd is that the perpetuator, if caught, will probably be sentenced to a few weeks jail and a 2 year suspension of his driving license.
And the likelihood that he will commit such a crime again is quite high, together with the fact that a human life was lost.
Whereas in a murder case of passion or revenge or anger, the murderer is sentenced to death, when that would probably be the last murder he ever commits.

Some more is a Romanian Embassy Car. Very high chances is a children from the Romanian staff that drove the car and got into this accident.

PAP will try all their ways to get the kid off the hook, or it will dragged this case for at least 3 to 5 years then after that will bring this case to court.

By that time, everyone will forget about this accident and moved on with their life then PAP will bring this case up. In that time, it will be a super light sentence, most likely a heavy fine and banned driving for life then everyone will be happy except the victims families, and case closed.

The Romanian embassy staff and his children will go karaoke with the PAP ministars and enjoy their whisky drinks and forget about this injustice easily.

That is the cheap life of Sinkies. If the person who were knocked down and killed are the foreign talents or any of the Embassy foreign staffs(especially USA or China) or their children, do you think the PAP and their dogs will let this case goes off and closed case easily?

The Russians stole the car, & drove it by remote control from inside the Kremlin, the night was foggy, the couldn't see well with the remote camera lens; so they accidentally hit the pedestrians.

The RUSSIANS did it! or some Romanian's embassy staff, was involved in some 'hanky panky' with his SPG, she was steer his 'joy stick'..and lost control of the AUDI....

it will just be one big cover up for the Romanians....they think that we are all idiots to report the car stolen an hour after the accident? Come on...and further more our roads has many cameras in place to monitor traffic condition...it wouldn't be difficult for the police to track the car back from where it came from...

it is really surprising how can the car be stolen when it is at the embassy. If it is not at the embassy where is it? outside the ambassador's place? Or somewhere else? Where?

Of all things..who will steal a CD plate Audi? Easy to steal meh?

Being an Audi - a luxury car, i am sure the security measures are quite tough its not as if its an old Proton? I mean if this is JB then yes, for sure the Audi can be stolen regardless security measure. I mean, come on, they even steal jet fighter engine...:p
