Ministry of Defence (MINDEF)
The Mission of MINDEF and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) is to enhance Singapore’s peace and security through deterrence and diplomacy, and should these fail, to secure a swift and decisive victory over the aggressor.

A total budget of $11.45 billion has been allocated to MINDEF in FY2009 towards achieving this mission.

MINDEF aims to achieve the following outcomes:

Singaporeans continue to enjoy a peaceful and secure environment.

Singapore continues to have unimpeded access to its air and sea lines of communication.
MINDEF and the SAF maintain good defence relations with an extensive network of countries in the region and beyond.

The SAF maintains a high state of operational readiness to deter and respond to any conventional or non-conventional threat to Singapore’s security.
NS men can be quickly mobilised to carry out their missions.
The SAF equips its servicemen with the necessary skills and knowledge to leverage on technologically advanced weapons and operational doctrines of modern warfare.

Like many, you had only want to see the peace and safety on the surface and had refuse to see what could be coming, taking all calmness for granted.

There are many reasons why MINDEF budget was increased, but for the likes of you who does not have any form of competent understanding, explaining to you is not worth the moment.

All we little people only know how to talk cock huh? Unlike sage we know more than you small fries will ever know and it's a waste of my precious time in which I spend a not inconsiderable amount of in forums to ever feel the need to define my views when I'm on my high horse type!

Ad hominem. I suppose it makes sense for Singapore to increase its defense spending but for Taiwan to decrease theirs. Perhaps it's worth asking if Singapore has its priorities misplaced. But as you've said, it's usually not worth replying to those who do not possess any form of competent understanding, even if they pretend that others but not themselves are the afflicted ones.

if maintain at last year's budget, still acceptable.
in such a torrid times, still increase,a bad decision.

aiya,,, having NSF dropping like flies, kena hospitalised long long time, insurance also go up,,,, so must increase budget 1st to tackle these problems, then to reduce such things from happening by having more air-con rooms etc etc, and also must budget for more MOs make sure every platoon has 1 MO each,,,,
