Brothers fined $2,000 each over casino entry
Published on Sep 22, 2011
A former lecturer who helped his younger brother impersonate him to gain entry into a casino was fined $2,000 on Thursday.
Fu Chok Wei, 34, a former Institute of Technical Education lecturer, pleaded guilty. He had given his identity card to his brother, Chok Xiong, to get into Resorts World Sentosa casino without paying the $100 entry levy on Apr 30 as he (Chok Wei) had earlier paid the entry levy of $100.
Chok Xiong, 27, a software engineer, was also fined $2,000 after he admitted to cheating by scanning the barcode of his brother's identity card at the entrance/exit lane for Singapore citizens and permanent residents at about 11pm that day.
The court heard that Chok Wei had gone to the casino with his wife at about 12.15am. They came out slightly over an hour later.
