<!-- story content : start --> A MARATHON for the people - that is what Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Community Development, Youth and Sports) Teo Ser Luck wants the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon to evolve into next year. The run, which has capped its participation at 50,000 runners for logistical reasons, is now one of the biggest marathons in the world but Mr Teo hopes it can be expanded to accommodate even more runners next year. Speaking after he completed Sunday's 42.195km distance, he said: 'There is a long waiting list in every category. The organisers are very ambitious and there is a possibility to expand the event to make it a people's marathon. 'There should be a focus on the average runner. When I was running in this marathon, I was amazed there were so many runners. 'It's such a big change from the first Singapore Marathon in 2002, when 6,000 took part. We have to figure out how to accommodate all the runners. 'Singapore's sporting culture is on the up. We have to face the reality that more and more Singaporeans are picking up running.'

I find it TOTALLY inappropriate that POLITICS should mix with SPORTS.

If you are so totally FOR THE S'pore Marathon, more help should be given to the SAA.

Now that is is a success, CCB wants to come in and take credit.

I have also ran the MArathon from2002, I already know that they have upped the numbers slowly to this year's 50,000. It was a SUPERB EFFORT BY THE SAA ALL THESE YEARS. No one can take the credit from the SAA.

But do you hear praise for the SAA. No! Even though it has been a success year after year, culminating with this year's 50,000.....not one single word of praise for the SAA.
But plenty of innuendos that "they" will want to take the credit for this successful Marathon IN THE FUTURE. Phoooey!

POLITICS AND SPORTS SHOULD NOT MIX. Once you make this MARATHON 'for the people" (more like for himself) I AND MY FRIENDS WILL STOP RUNNING THE MARATHON. I KID YOU NOT.

BTW... SAA is Singapore Athletics Association and are the organising people (Organisers) behind securing sponsors, admin, liasing with and getting world class runners; together with StandChart, for the highly successful Singapore Marathon series.

"...a Marathon for the people".

You mean to say the S'pore Marathon all these years is not for the people?

What exactly is he trying to say?

Can you people try to guess what he meant?

Post your answers here. Thanks!

This marathon is a real event, as well as a practice-run for the cooling-off period. After sinkies used to such propaganda, when the real cooling-off period comes, they will not even be aware of it since it became a norm by then.

I think U just quote the reason why he needs to get involved.

A MARATHON for the people - that is what Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Community Development, Youth and Sports) Teo Ser Luck wants the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon to evolve into next year.

Does that answer your question?

The longer the waiting list, it's sometimes better.

Not like the failed or soon to fail FT policy where the granting of PRs and work permits is like selling hum chem peang or PROSTITUTING oneself.

S'pore has become the easiest place for FTs to come. Wait for the repercussions to come for all to see.

marketing 101.

I think U just quote the reason why he needs to get involved.

Does that answer your question?

Then all the more reasons why he should be praising the SAA for good work done all these years.

Freind, it goes deeper than that.

Just ask yourself why no words of praise?

i think they refering to marathon organise by standard charter, pap only know about demolish good old thing

Standard Chartered Bank , the government indirectly have an interest in SCB...;)

You all see how he twists and turns. Still not ONE single word of praise for the organisers SAA but yet more veiled threats (below in red). I think SAA sure got trouble brewing just by watching this CB's statements.

Who the fuck cares weather he dies or not. if he is really sick, CCB you think he is stupid to run a Marathon?

Only idiots like the letter writer believe that. Maybe letter also written by ghost writer to formulate that he was on a trouble 'seeking' mission for all to know.

Phoooey! Really amateur.

My apologies for causing her and quite a few others to worry after I disclosed that I had participated in the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon on Sunday after recovering from the flu. I decided to participate as I wanted to give my support to the event and have a first-hand experience of the race to see how well we had sorted out the bottleneck issues experienced by participants in previous years. Even though I know my body well and had completed the race by alternating frequently between walking and running, this is not a practice which should be followed. Precautions should be taken. Ms Yeo's advice is noted. I am glad to inform her and everyone who sent me their well-wishes, congratulations and concerns that I am now fully recovered.'

Expect the same SHIT to take place on PAPee's Cooling Day in the next GE when their dog leeporters show PAPee flag waving dogs in the background in say a car accident scene, etc.

Always beware of a politician's words. Even more when it comes from a hungry one. Even the boss will get hammered in time to come.
