at least the cliff was only 6.09m,if it was 69.69m there would have been no survivors on board.

why the fuck do people like to travel on buses on cliffs anyway?i have always wondered if there was any safer way to get up genting highlands besides cable car or buses.

I was also wondering how they could be so lucky, but according to the latest news, it looks like they were not so lucky after all:

SINGAPORE: Three Singaporeans were among the 14 killed when a bus plunged into a six-metre-deep ravine near Jalan Kangkar Senangah Pagoh on Saturday (Dec 24).

A list of deceased put up on a notice board at the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital in Muar indicated that the victims include three Singapore citizens and a Malaysian who was working in Singapore, however Singapore authorities have yet to confirm this.

The victims had been on an Alisan Golden Coach Express bus which left Johor Bahru's Larkin Bus Station at 2am for Kuala Lumpur, said Muar police chief ACP Azman Ayob.

Sixteen other people were injured, six of them Singaporeans. They were sent to the Sultanah Fatimah hospital for treatment.

Earlier on Saturday evening, the hospital had said the injured Singaporeans, who suffered mainly fractures and were in stable condition, were still receiving treatment.

ACP Azman said he believed the speeding bus plunged into the ravine along the North-South expressway and crashed into a concrete barrier of the tunnel at Kampung Jayo.

The cousin of one of the Singaporean victims Hamimah Mammu, told Channel NewsAsia that he wanted to bring back her body across the causeway that same night.

"I am sad of course ... We met recently at a wedding and it was very jovial. Tonight we want to bring her back to Singapore and tomorrow morning we will do the burial rites," said Mr Yusuf Sabda at the Sultanah Fatimah hospital.

Bus driver has only 3 hours rest before driving the fated bus from Johor to KL in the early morning hours.

If I have known it, I will not take the bus. I rather err on the side of caution than assuming all is going to be fine.
