<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->Among the crowd of happy family members attending yesterday's commissioning parade of new Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) officers were Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife, Ms Ho Ching.
They were at the Safti Military Institute in Jurong to see their youngest son, Li Haoyi, graduate as an officer.
PM Lee's second son, Li Hongyi, received his officer's commission in 2006.
The ceremony is held four times a year, and follows 38 weeks of rigorous training. It sees graduating officer cadets become commissioned officers.
A total of 548 officer cadets were commissioned yesterday.
PM Lee took many pictures with a digital camera as Haoyi, a combat engineer, participated in the parade square ceremony.
Ms Ho watched her son through a pair of binoculars.
When it was time for parents to affix rank epaulettes on the graduands' uniform, there was a slight ripple in the crowd as the couple made their way with other families onto the parade square.
The couple beamed and posed with their son for a family picture.
With a note of pride in his voice, PM Lee was overheard saying to Haoyi: 'Congratulations. Well done, son.'
With the dark clouds above in mind, Haoyi was seen pointing out to his parents the protective lightning wire stretched over the parade square in case of rain.
=> For fear of Karma strking on the wicked?
Later, along with the other families, the Lees returned to their seats to watch the new officers toss their peak caps into the air in celebration.
