Break up? I'll post sex videos online
By The AsiaOne Techbot
When his girlfriend asked to call their relationship quits, a 21-year-old manager was so angered by the idea of a breakup that he threatened to put their sex videos online if she left him.
The case, which happened tow years ago, was heard in court this month, according to a Shin Min Daily news report.
The local Chinese daily reported that the text message was sent on 25 September 2007, after the man's girlfriend initiated the breakup. In it, the man said that he will post the couple's sex videos online should his girlfriend leave him.
Two days later, the man asked his girlfriend out for a last meeting with her. The meet took place at the void deck of his girlfriend's flat at about midnight.
When the young manager's pleas were unsuccessful in getting her to change her mind, he snatched her mobile phone in anger and found text messages in it that were sent to her by a male colleague.
Infuriated by what he saw, the man then pushed his girlfriend against a wall and hit her before leaving with her ATM card and $2 in cash.
The woman's parents called the police when they saw her coming home with injuries to her face and was subsequently admitted to hospital for a day.
Police later searched the man's house and found his girlfriend's wallet as well as some 70 sex videos in his computer.
The man pleaded guilty to all charges, but told the judge that the relationship had been developing steadily all along until his girlfriend had a change of heart.
He told the court that he still loved his girlfriend deeply and was willing to apologise to her and pay all her medical bills.
For his charges, the man was placed on probation and has to serve 100 hours of community service. He also has to stay at home from 11pm to 6am. His parents have also undersigned $5000 to assure his good behaviour.
The judge said that the young manager was extremely lucky to have received a light sentence, as consideration was given that he was only 19 when he committed those crimes.
