Break-in gang members nabbed
JOHOR BARU: Police have smashed a house break-in gang with the arrest of four suspects, including a woman, and the seizure of a shotgun. Johor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said the suspects, aged between 20 and 43, were believed to be responsible for more than 15 break-ins.
Three of the suspects had previous criminal records and one of them was wanted in six cases, he added. “Based on a tip-off on Feb 2, a police team raided a house at Kampung Pertanian in Masai here and arrested the suspects before recovering the shotgun and a host of other items.

“The weapon was reported stolen in Terengganu,” DCP Mohd Mokhtar told a press conference here yesterday. Among the other items seized were an arm-guard, 108 rounds of ammunition, three ski masks, six plastic packets of heroin, a package of ketamine, two plastic bags containing ganja and six plastic packets of syabu.
DCP Mohd Mokhtar said police also recovered a digital camera, four mobile phones, a Yamaha RXZ motorcycle and a Honda Wave motorcycle. The suspects are being remanded until Feb 14 to assist in investigations.
In another case, DCP Mohd Mokhtar said a 34-year-old suspect believed to be involved in 15 armed robbery cases in Seri Alam was arrested. He said the suspect was arrested in front of a hotel in Jalan Masai Lama on Feb 5. Police seized several items including a replica of a silver Colt pistol.
He said among the other items seized were a nine-inch penknife, a plastic bag containing heroin, a 12.5-inch knife, 15 Eramin 5 and a Yamaha RXZ motorcycle. DCP Mohd Mokhtar said the suspect had a previous record.
