Anyone with Facebook account? Makapa or someone else here please set up a facebook page on boycott of Universal Studios Spore. Here are the reasons:
1) Genting Resorts lied again big time to Spore citizens that it is committed to hiring Sporeans but renegaded against it as Temasek Review has reported that Genting is now looking for hundreds of HDB flats for rentals, presumbaly to Pinoys & PRCs.
2) President Arroyo of Philippines has earlier claimed that Genting Resorts has approached its country's Labor Dept to recruit as many Pinoys as they can for its casino & Universal Studios in Spore. The Spore press found out about it & blew it up. Genting retreated & stated that they are working with Spore authorities to hire locals. Unfortunately that is not the case. See Point 1 above.
3) Genting Resorts can no longer give us the crap that local Spore citizens cannot or don't want to take these jobs cos they are not desirable. Who says so Genting? Did you try harder Genting or your lazy company think that just parroting our govt or other local employers or MNC could make your reasoning on hiring Pinoys or PRCs more legitimate? Screw you Genting Resorts!! If MacDonalds Spore can continue to hire Ah Sohs, Ah Peks & even get them to understand & speak English better than your Pinoys lousy English & your PRCs non-existent English, then your reasoning is moot! Kaboosh! Even local students are hired by MacDonalds. The key to it is to hire on flexi time and make sure there is seamless transfer. You do not wish to learn from MacDonalds & just go on heresay, you go on & on like a broken record, Genting Resorts!
4) Are you the Spore citizens aware that Malaysian citizens need only show their passports to get discounts on all attractions offered by Sentosa Corporation? I have read Malaysian blogs detailing how they take advantage of this to visit Spore becos its such a good damn deal, the discounts are about 30 to 50%, cannot remember the exact amount. As far as I know, Sentosa Corp does NOT offer this to Spore citizens, correct me if I am wrong?
So the most pertinent question here is to ask whether Genting Resorts is going to follow Sentosa Corp's lead & offer discriminatory pricing & discounts to fellow Malaysian citizens when Universal Studios Spore open. Genting Resorts is a Malaysian company thru & thru. Who will be the watchdog for this if discriminatory pricing arises?
