SINGAPORE :
A 24-year-old male cyclist who attempted to bribe
two traffic police officers Wednesday found out the
hard way that police integrity could not be bought.
Sergeant Nazir Jaffar and Sergeant Mohammed Fadzly
spotted a cyclist riding on the footway at Geylang Road
before the junction of Sims Way and directed him to stop.
However, he refused to do so and tried to escape.
The officers chased the cyclist on foot
and managed to stop him at Geylang Lorong 4.
When they told the cyclist that he would be booked
for cycling along the footway of a public road, the man
offered two $10-dollar notes to the officers in return
for letting him off.
The officers rejected offer and arrested the cyclist
for trying to bribe them.
The case has since been referred to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB).
