Bitten by fish spa closure
July 23, 2009

SINCE 2007, she has signed up for three packages with Kampong Fish Therapy.

But when the business folded in April this year, Ms Judy Tann, 42, a secretary, was left with unused portions of her package amounting to about $650.

The spa - registered as Dr Fish (Singapore) - is co-owned by actress Yeo Yann Yann and make-up artist Dollei Seah.

Earlier this month, the Small Claims Tribunals (SCT) ordered the company to give Ms Tann a refund by 15 Jul. But as of yesterday, she claimed she had not been paid.

We could not verify this with the company's spokesman, Ms Seah, yesterday as she could not be reached.

At least four other customers have complained against the spa this year, said Mr Seah Seng Choon, Case's executive director.

In an e-mail reply to The New Paper two weeks ago, Ms Seah said: 'The shareholders have re-invested to pay off money the company owed to suppliers, business partners and customers. The company has also tried its best to refund customers who have remaining service packages...

'The shareholders have no additional funds at this point to pump into the business.'

I recall reading that Yeo Yann Yann's hometown is Kukup

So growing up in a fishing village is no guarantee you can run a business with fishes
