PRIME Minister Lee Hsien Loong has been re-elected secretary- general of the central executive committee (CEC) of the ruling People's Action Party.

Was elected chairman of the PAP's CEC, the party's highest decision-making body</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>Lim Boon Heng, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, was elected chairman; and Environment and Water Resources Minister Yaacob Ibrahim, vice-chairman, according to a PAP press release issued yesterday.
The election of the office bearers for the party's highest decision-making body took place on Wednesday, a day after more than 1,000 cadres elected a new CEC which also included Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.
Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng, who is also Home Affairs Minister, was elected first assistant secretary-general; and Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean, second assistant secretary-general, in Wednesday's election of the PAP CEC office bearers.
National Development Minister Mah Bow Tan, who was co-opted into the CEC in the election on Tuesday, was elected treasurer. Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam was elected assistant treasurer.
Also elected to the CEC on Tuesday were Foreign Affairs Minister George Yeo; Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Lim Swee Say; Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan; and Community Development, Youth and Sports Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.
Senior Minister of State for Finance and Transport Lim Hwee Hua; Acting Manpower Minister Gan Kim Yong; Member of Parliament Indranee Rajah; Education Minister Ng Eng Hen; and Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Community Development, Youth and Sports) Teo Ser Luck were also co-opted into the new CEC.
