Bid to meet boyfriend ends in fall
GEORGE TOWN: Desperate to meet her boyfriend, an Indonesian maid tied together five towels and a bedsheet and tried to climb down eight floors from a condominium unit.
The attempt, however, resulted in her death. She fell to the ground after the improvised rope snapped.
According to an SMS found in the victim’s handphone, the 33-year-old maid had wanted to meet her boyfriend, who was waiting at the condominium lobby in Paya Terubong at 11.30pm on Saturday.

However, her employers refused her request.
She returned to her room, where she tied the towels and bedsheet together in a bid to use it to climb down and meet her boyfriend.
She then tied it to the window frame before strapping it to her body and climbing down, but the “rope” snapped under her weight, causing her to fall to her death at about 2.30am yesterday.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Gan Kong Meng said police had ruled out foul play.
“The case is currently classified as sudden death and a post-mortem will be conducted tomorrow,” he said.
He said police had recorded statements from the maid’s employers, who were a couple in their 50s.
It is learnt that the maid’s contract will end in April.
ACP Gan said police were looking for the boyfriend, also an Indonesian, to assist in investigations.
