PUTRAJAYA - A Sessions Court here will hear the application to send the woman who ran amok with a samurai sword-wielding man outside the Prime Minister's Department for a mental evaluation on Oct 11.
The application hearing was fixed when the case was brought up for case management before judge Engku Ahmad Rashdi Engku Abdillah here yesterday.
Muhdalena Ahmad, 28, was charged on July 16 with committing criminal intimidation and possession of a sword.
Lawyer M. Visvanathan, who represented Muhdalena, said the application was made under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
He later told reporters that it was important to establish whether Muhdalena was sane at the time of the incident and whether she is mentally fit now to go through the trial.
DPP Kalmizah Salleh appeared for the prosecution.
Yesterday, Muhdalena who wore a headscarf and oversized sunglasses, was seen calmly leaving the courtroom with her father and unfazed by the attention.
She had been wearing red and yellow Power Rangers masks during her first two court appearances.
Muhdalena is alleged to have committed criminal intimidation by threatening to cause grievous hurt to auxiliary policeman Ridzuan Megat Ahmad and a second charge of having a sword in her possession.
The alleged offences were committed in the vicinity of Complex B of the Prime Minister's Department here at around 2.30pm on July 9.
Her partner Khalil Afendi died at Putrajaya Hospital after succumbing to injuries.
Muhdalena is currently free on bail of RM10,000 (S$4,016.59) in one surety pending trial.
