SINGAPORE - The Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC) has issued a warning notifying people to be wary of ice-cream sellers misusing CDAC's name to solicit public donations.

The council said that they have received feedback on four cases last month of door-to-door salespersons claiming to be raising funds for CDAC beneficiaries through the selling of ice-cream.

The cases were reported in Jurong, West Coast, Hill View and Bukit Panjang.

CDAC, a non-profit organisation, has beneficiaries that include low-income families and academically poor students.

The organisation said it did not authorise anyone to raise funds for their beneficiaries and has reported the matter to the police.

If members of the public believe they have encountered similar cases, they are advised to alert CDAC at their hotline 6603 5599 or inform the police.
