Bernie Utchenik of Botak Jones is now Singaporean

Bernie is due to be taking his oath of allegiance in late August of this year.
Singapore, July 24, 2009 - Steakman Bernie Utchenik, famously known as Botak Jones has had his application for Singapore citizenship approved.
Bernie is expected to take his oath of allegiance in late August.
He is founder and managing director of Great Big Food Pte Ltd which operates the chain of 11 Botak Jones steak and hamburger outlets in hawker centres, coffeeshops and canteens. Most of them are located in HDB heartlands and industrial areas.
His company now also boasts a full‐fledged Catering division.
Elated to join the Singapore family, Bernie said he is "indeed happy to be a part of " of the nation and "contribute to the vibrancy of the country".
Bernie arrived in Singapore in 1993. He tried his hand at various ventures before finding a successful model of bringing restaurant quality American food at budget prices to Singaporeans with Botak Jones.
Bernie is married to Singaporean Faudziah Mohd Ali (above), 47.
When asked in a 2004 interview why he stayed on in Singapore, he replied: "It's great living here.".
His impressions of Singapore have improved over the years. There were more choices on TV and in the arts scene.
"I realised that the people manning Singapore were much wiser than myself," he told The New Paper in 2004.
But when it comes to broiling a good steak. Bernie and his team are masters.
A recent tasting of his US Prime Beef Steak proved that they could make meat lovers tummy happy, whether they are expats or Singaporean heartlanders. It was premium, flavourful with a nice beefy aged taste with the right degree of doneness.
The man behind the big American meals has inspired many, especially young people with his success. Today, the university dropout is proud to be able to teach students in polytechnics and universities a thing or two about growing a business in Asia.
