Someone must pay for her hospital bills, if the worker's insurance is not enough to cover hospital expenses, then the rest of the amount must be paid by the attacker

Since attacker is jail, he must continue work & pay off his debts, enroll him into some yellow ribbon program, get him working . Really no justice for Employer to bear this cost.

It's tough being towkays and masters when we're held fully liable for anything that happens to our serfs. Samsters should be more supportive towards masters who restrict the movements of their serfs.

Foreigner chop foreigner is the pronlem solving itself, dont interfere

If the employer cannot afford to pay, and the $15,000 insurance is used up, what is the hospital going to do ? Push her out and leave her by the roadside ?

The employer is not responsible for what happened. If she doesn't have a personal insurance in Singapore, then she needs to sit back and wait for the hospital to sue her for payment.

The employer doesn't have to do anything.

The employer is not responsible for what happened.

The employer is financially liable for what happened. It's not so simple when employers hire foreign serfs, be it maids or F&B hands. The serf insurance is usually insufficient to cover major hospitalization bills.

It has nothing whatsoever to do with the work to which she is employed. In fact, it's quite the other way round.

I don't think there is anything in the MoM regulations that whatever happens to the employee outside work, the employer is financially responsible.

There is.

Under MOM regulations, towkays are responsible for the medical bills of their work permit serfs and S-Pass serfs.

In response to a recent letter written in The Straits Times, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has said that employers are responsible for paying for medical treatment for all foreign work pass holders.

“Under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Regulations, employers are responsible for providing and bearing the cost of medical treatment (including non-work related) for their Work Permit or S Pass holders,” the ministry said.

Yes. But she got injured while being his employee. So she is still covered. And towkays are not allowed to fire serfs without cause.
I thought fnb is one of the lousiest benefits. can just fire anytime they wan. dont have medical card etc. I think her case was in the limelight.
