Bastard Teacher threw volleyball at special-needs student thrice, locked student in room and threatened to cage him

No mention if the teacher is adequately trained to deal with retards in the first place.

Relief teachers are not trained at all. They usually have no formal training in education.
Teacher training ranges from one to four years full-time. However, the module on Special Needs education is very superficial, and does not equip the teacher to handle children with special needs.
Teachers who wish to handle children with special needs, must undergo a one-year specialised training programme, the Diploma in Special Education, which focuses on a range of disabilities including intellectual, physical, sensory, behavioural and psychological disabilities.

The relief teacher should not have been deployed to handle a class with any student with special needs.

that's why I've mentioned much earlier- are the main stream school teachers fully equipped with the skill sets to handle special needs students?

The bastard teacher in incident has problem to begin with, the article said that even his wife sought court-protection order.

why are special needs student channeled to main stream schools in the first place when the teachers aren't trained sufficiently?

who is the project owner? that chap ought to be hung by the balls.

Yes, it compounded the issue. The proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.

I repeat again: A Relief teacher should never be deployed to manage a class where there is a student with special needs.

Only an ignorant and egoistic individual will claim that he or she is competent, qualified and capable of being an EFFECTIVE teacher.

The individual is not a qualified trained teacher. He is no different from John's relatives whom John claimed are competent and capable 'teachers.'
The school management and the Ministry are the parties who should be responsible and held accountable.
As I mentioned earlier, even qualified teachers are generalist and not properly equipped to TEACH and MANAGE students with special needs.

Just like hospital beds, it's a national problem created by the PAP-led Government. There are just insufficient places and resources to cater for children with special needs in Singapore. It bears testimony of the arrogant, complacent and incompetent PAP LEEders.

The project owner/Divisional Director has no balls...she's a lady. Such administrative/executive officers have no say in major LEEcisions. They have tried their best in having children with mild special needs attend mainstream schools. The issue is 'How mild is MILD?' This bears testimony to PAP's 'Stage to Fit and Fix.'

PAP LEEders are arrogant, complacent and incompetent. They are $$$$elf-$$$$erving and care not for the people.
PAP LEEders take the money and glory but the people are left to suffer.
Change or be changed.

Another problem I see is the spread of infrastructures vis-a-viz class room teacher to student ratio. Truly staged to fit and fix.

Yes. 35 to 40 students to one teacher is ridiculous and very 'F-care' thinking. It is slowly killing passionate teachers, especially the language teachers. Hence, many teachers are taking school teaching as a part-time job and after-school tuition assignments as a full-time career.
