Barbarella: I speak funnily, meh?

For the Sarong Party Girls, our motto is - 'Ang Moh Men or Nothing'.

Watching Barbarella - Caldecott Hill's resident SPG - speak English where she rolls her Rs into Ls and Ls into Rs is the perfect antidote to mundane everyday life.

By the time Barbarella arrived on our TV screen in season one of The Noose, everyone has fallen in love with her. And there's no reason not to be enamoured by her nonsensical and frivolous buoyancy.

Classic long black hair, a false foreign accent and always provocatively dressed, Barbarella Posh Beckham [last name is correct at the time of print given that she almost always appears with a different last name] may be ditzy but sometimes being ditzy is good because you can get away with things. Seriously, we could use a cue or two from Barbarella, yea...

Xinmsn talks to the unofficial president of 'SPG' and self-styled mistress of everything ang mohs where she shares about her incessant love for white men and all things French.

Tell us about yourself. Hello everybody my name is Babarella Posh Beckham, that's right, and I'm the president of the SPG, that's the Sarong Party Girls, and I only wear Chanel, tanks (sic)!

Has anyone ever asked why you speak funnily? I speak funnily? What do you means by that? As you know I'm very experienced lah, when it comes to ang mohs because I'm always hanging out with different types of ang mohs. Sometimes it's the Americans or British people so I feel that my English is very good.

Why do you like ang mohs? Because I think personally, everything about ang mohs is Bigger, Better and more Beautiful. For the Sarong Party Girls, our motto is - 'Ang Moh Men or Nothing'. Very good right! I came up with that myself yea... (Laughs).

Do you not find The Noose's news anchor B.B See and reporter Andre Chicak attractive? Excuse me miss? Even if they are ang mohs, do you think they are attractive? Have you seen B.B See's hair or the lack of it, excuse me? I mean, he practically has no hair and you know what they say about people with no hair yea.. They are not so good in bed. It's true! The hairier you are, the better you are in bed because your sex drive is like bigger. Oh, this [interview] for TV or internet? Can say sex drive or not?

Do you think you are more beautiful than Adrianna Wow, the newsreader from 'The Noose'? Of course I am more beautiful than her! First of all, curly big hair is so out already. Curly big hair, to me, is likeso 1985 right!? And also I don't know why she has that fake accent. And also, she always says that she's from America but I don't think she has even been there. I think I understand ang mohs better than her so definitely I feel that I am more beautiful. Tanks.

But Adrianna Wow is smart and reads the news on TV... Hey, I'm on TV all the time. I went on this show called 'Donch Forget The Lyrics' oh, I think she did too, ok wait... and then I went on National Day but she didn't. I was at the National Day Parade which means the garment (read: government) really likes me. And then also I went to London for 'Singapore Day'. So I think I'm more popular yea? Tanks. Any other questions?

On the recent debate over the PSLE mother tongue weightage, what are your views on that? What? Eh? Oh, muddle (read: mother) tongue, this question is like very tough. Wait, I must think abourit. (After a rather long pause) Well, I agree on the reduction. Personally, I don't know if you notice but my English is very good and I don't speak very good Mandarin. That's because when I was in school, I'm like very ang-moi pai (read: westernised) so it's very difficult for me to master the language. So, I agree we should take away the muddle tongue.

If you have a choice to choose a replacement language for Chinese, what would it be and why? For me would be French because I love everything French. Like French fries, French baguette, French cap and French kiss. (Giggles) I love everything French basically and I can speak a little bit French and it's better than my Chinese!

Michelle Chong is hilarious.
One of the most talented Singaporean artistes around, pity that she is not appreciated more.
