BRITISH soldiers stationed in Afghanistan have been give just £1 a head to celebrate Christmas this year.
Defence chiefs in London allocated £500 to the troops stationed in the Middle Eastern country - the largest British deployment overseas.

The battle against terrorism in Afghanistan is entering its 17th year with American troops heavily involved.
Unlike their British comrades. they are being treated to Christmas trees, turkeys, decorations, presents and a screening of the new Star Wars film.
One British officer in Kabul told The Sunday Times: "The contrast between the American and British approach is staggering.
"As an army we don’t have as much money as the US, but even the Danish and Mongolians seem to be doing more."
