8 Vietnamese women detained in KL club raid
KUALA LUMPUR: Eight Vietnamese women, believed to be working as guest relations officers (GRO), were among 20 individuals detained in a police raid at a karaoke centre here.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Senior Asst Comm Habibi Majinji said the women were entertaining patrons when the raid was conducted the raid was conducted at about 12.05am on Sunday (June 12).
"We detained eight foreign women, 11 male Bangladeshi workers and a local man who was the outlet's caretaker," he said.
SAC Habibi said the women were paid between RM100 and RM150 per hour for their services.
"We believe they have been working at the outlet for about three months," he said.
Inspections were also conducted on 85 individuals aged from 20 to 61 at the outlet, he said.
"The outlet does not have a valid business license. We will investigate the matter further," he said.
