Indonesian prosecutors have asked a court to sentence alleged Bali bomber Umar Patek to life in prison.
When the trial started in February prosecutors said they would seek capital punishment for Patek, who
was held last year in the Pakistani town of Abbottabad, four months before Al Qaeda chief Osama bin
Laden was killed there.
But on Monday (local time) the prosecutor told the West Jakarta District Court that because Patek has
shown contrition, he should be spared the death penalty.
