Customs officials on Saturday arrested a driver of a 22-wheel trailer on charge of smuggling 40,000 litres illegal petrol, worth seven million baht, reports said.
He was identified as Duan Piluekna, 33, a resident of Nakhon Ratchasima province.
The trailer, fully loaded with smuggled petrol, was stopped by the officials on the Asian Highway at Ban Tha Kae in Patthalung’s Muang district.
Mr Duan said the illegal petrol was loaded at an illegal oil depot in Ban Nanode of Patthalung’s Muang district and he was delivering it to clients in Bangkok.
