</TR><!-- headline one : end --><!-- show image if available --></TBODY></TABLE>

<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I REFER to last Thursday's letter by Ms Elina Ciptadi, 'Chinatown food stall charged tourists $74 for simple meal'.
The dining experience that Ms Ciptadi and her overseas relatives had was regrettable. We encourage her to approach the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to provide details of the food stall so we can contact the stall's owner.
Food-stall owners are expected to display their prices and reflect these in their menu so diners are aware of the prices of the food they intend to order. Given her feedback, STB has alerted the Chinatown Business Association which will remind stall owners to display their pricing clearly at all times.
Consumers, both local and tourists, can also play a part and exercise discretion when paying for goods or services. Pricing in Singapore is left to market forces and we advise consumers to check prices before making a purchase and to compare prices where possible.
