Yishun MRT Station was engulfed in chaos this morning as passengers were informed of an unexplained train delay, says STOMPer Stefanie. What made it worse was that there was only one station staff in charge of directing human traffic.
Not only were passengers not allowed to board the north-bound train, those who arrived at Yishun in the train were also asked to alight and wait to board another train.
STOMPer Stefanie says in an email dated Aug 20:
“It was chaotic this morning at Yishun MRT Station.
“First, an announcement was broadcast and informed passengers that the north-bound train towards Woodlands would be delayed by 15 minutes.
“There was no further ezplaination as to what was happening.
“Apparently, an incident had happened at Ang Mo Kio MRT, resulting in the delay.
“Soon, a train coming from Sembawang arrived at Platform B (which is north-bound).
“All passengers alighted and were told to go to the platform opposite to wait for another south-bound train.
“The situation could have been better controlled as during that moment, only one SMRT personnel could be seen giving instructions to passengers.
“There were some security personnel at the platform who could have also helped to direct human traffic.”
